The pandemic has affected all of us both physically and emotionally starting from the loss of health, stressful work circumstances, on-hold careers, and missed milestones that are suffered by many students and college graduates. Even for those that are usually able to withstand stress and pressure, this period has been more taxing than ever before.
In this paper, we examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the workforce resilience and adaptability, as measured by selected personality preferences assessed by the OPQ (Occupational Personality Questionnaire). Furthermore, this paper offers ways to heal from this collective trauma through:
- Leading with empathy
- Building individual psychological contracts
- Establishing trust and empowerment
- Creating a feeling of belongings
- Finding the moment to bring social connection into actions
This paper is useful for leaders and organizations who are looking into ways to rebuild their organizational culture, so they can recover their people’s resilience and adaptability that have been eroded by the pandemic.
